How Gun Milan is scored
Ashtakoot Milan compares the Moon's nakshatra and rashi in both charts across eight koots worth 36 points in total: Varna (1), Vashya (2), Tara (3), Yoni (4), Graha Maitri (5), Gana (6), Bhakoot (7) and Nadi (8). A score of 18 or more is generally treated as acceptable, 24 and above as good. Nadi and Bhakoot carry the most weight, so a high total with a zero in those koots still deserves a closer reading of both charts.
Mangal Dosha is judged separately, from the position of Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house. When both partners have it, it is traditionally considered cancelled.
